Art Club is co-led by me and my two teaching artist friends, Virginia and Ayla. We begin each session together as a group, then divide into two sections within the same room to focus on age-appropriate, developmentally tailored projects. I work with both groups to help guide and support their work.

At our first Art Club meeting, everyone settled in quickly and got to work. We introduced some art vocabulary, and the artists personalized their sketchbooks by designing their own covers; some even designed stickers with their art on them.

After a long break due to the weather, we’re back in action and excited to really dive in this semester. This week, we focused on developing characters for our imagary worlds, carefully cutting them out and paying close attention to details, from what color hair they have or whether they have superpowers.

Next week, we’ll begin drafting the environments where their characters live. Which will eventually turn into 3D worlds!
